Collection consists of an assortment of oral histories that were donated by various individuals to the UCLA Library Center for Oral History Research. Topics of the interviews and lectures are wide-ranging and include the Los Angeles Airport; American photography; Allensworth, an African-American community in San Joaquin Valley, California; African-American life in Los Angeles; Afghanistan in the 1960s and 1970s; gardening with California natives and fire-resistant plants; Coalinga, California; the California Democratic Council; Japanese-American internment during World War II; Ralph Bunche; homesteading in the early twentieth century; Los Angeles businesses; the University of California, San Diego, Library; NRA and antitrust attitudes of Franklin D. Roosevelt; Griffith Park; and labor activism. This collection contains the audio recordings of oral history interviews and transcripts of several of the interviews; transcripts of interviews for which there is no recording in the collection; a few items of ephemera relating to the interview subjects; audio recordings and transcripts of lectures; and audio recordings and outlines of a television series, "World of Ornamentals."
